Hackett architects are a Belfast based practice specialising in large urban projects and cultural buildings, with expertise in theatre and art gallery design. Other specialisms include urban design and research in divided cities.

 

Mark Hackett is also a director in City Reparo, a multidisciplinary consultancy with the skills to implement city improvement and transformation. (www.cityreparo.org) He was previously a founding director of the urban group Forum for Alternative Belfast, a think tank working with communities and government to advocate for better urban design solutions for the city.

 

Mark was a founding partner in Hackett Hall McKnight who won the UK and Ireland Young Architect of the Year Award in 2008. In this practice he completed a number of award winning buildings including the MAC arts centre in Belfast which was awarded the Downes Medal by the Architectural Association of Ireland and was nominated for the European Union Mies van der Rohe award. Mark wound up his interest in the practice during 2010-11 following a philanthropic award to progress the non profit urban work of Forum for Alternative Belfast.
